Our Activities

Expressive Art & Design

During art classes we explore a range of media and material. This encourages the children to be creative and to use their imagination through sensorial play. Our lessons include exploring patterns, experimenting with colour, design, texture form and function.

Ballet

We have one qualified dance teacher offering the children the opportunity to learn classical ballet alongside other dance techniques. The children enjoy listening to a wide range of music learning different dance cultures and styles. We promote a healthy lifestyle and ballet provides the children with an understanding of how their body moves and the exercise to stimulate their minds.

Cooking

At Nursery we promote a healthy lifestyle and eating a healthy diet is something we feel passionately about. We try to encourage the children to learn and understand the nutritional benefits provided by eating a balanced diet. The children take part in cookery lessons and help to prepare food using different flavours from around the world. We are able to cater for all allergy and dietary requirements.

ICT

At Nursery we recognise that information computer technology is an important part of our ever-changing world. We encourage children to explore different forms of technology that help us retrieve information. IT not only involves using our Nursery iPad but also everyday items such as weighing scales. Children have a good understanding of how to use these forms of IT by having guidance from our experienced teaching staff.

YOGA

Yoga gives a child the chance to tune in and focus. It is a fun way for them to unwind, rest and revive along with developing strength, balance and flexibility. Leanne is an experienced Yogi who brings calm to her classes.

Outside Play

At Nursery we believe it is important for children’s development to access a stimulating natural outside environment.  We are delighted that at both of our nurseries we have a comprehensive outside area, in which children can explore the natural environment and develop and maintain their fine and gross motor skills with inspiring and practical activities and resources. The children help us with planting and gardening at both settings and all areas of learning are incorporated in our outside provisions.

Music

Music is taught by Mrs Sanderson who has over 25 years of experience and created College Town Montessori.  The music programme taught to children is based around the ‘Colour Strings’ method of teaching. Children learn simple rhymes and early music notation. They explore a range of instruments during the lesson and play percussion instruments. Our lessons are fun, interactive and enhance children’s enthusiasm for music from an early age.  Learning music contributes greatly towards children’s cognitive skills and development
